SEYMOUR GLASSWORKS
Custom Glass Art
Bio
I began lampworking, the use of a gas powered torch to manipulate hard glass,  in 1997 and soon thereafter joined with two others to form Prometheus Design a wholesale business focusing on hard glass.  I have studied lampworking with experts in the field, including such notables as Kevin O'Grady, Robert Mickelsen, Mike Plane, Roger Parramore, and Ray Olson.  I have taken classes at Glasscraft in Golden Colorado and the Eugene Glass School in Eugene Oregon.  In 2000 I began assisting and learning the art of glassblowing, the ancient technique of manipulating molten glass on the end of a steel pipe.  The glassblowing experts I have studied with include Mike Saull, Dakota Ward, Gareth Williams, Angelo Ambrosia, and Amy Nowell and I have taken a class at Van Tetterode glass school in Amsterdam.  Additionally, I have also had the honor of spending the day with the master glassblower, Pino Signoretto, in his shop on the the island of Murano Italy, near Venice.  I have also trained in glass casting, the art of pouring molten glass into a mold, with Effie Halkidis.   My studies did not stop there and through books and trial and error, I have also learned the art of fused and slumped glass.  Fused glass is the process of cutting sheet glass and then piecing it together and placing it in an annealer until fusing takes place.  The fused work is either left alone or placed in a mold where it slumps, taking the shape of the mold.
My inspiration has come from countless others I have encountered on my journey through glass and I would like to thank everyone who has inspired, motivated, and contributed to my love of glass.
